The Adventist Home for the Elders provides sheltered housing for the aged and the aged destitute. It is a non-profit charity registered with the Commissioner of Charities/National Council of Social Services, and supported by the Seventh-Day Adventist Chinese Church (located at 297 Thomson Road) since inception. The Home was officially opened in 1981. At that time, the Home's capacity was only to accommodate 14 residents. In August 1993, a proposal was made to expand the Home by converting the then Residents Committee's Office and Kindergarten at the void deck of HDB Block 195 Kim Keat Avenue for the Home's use. The proposal was approved and completed in 1994 to accommodate 24 more residents. Regardless of race, language or religion, the Home currently provides sheltered housing 35 senior citizens, who are 60 years and above.
